Tax calculations are federal-only by default — state and local taxes vary and should be added separately. How do you calculate compound interest? ▾
We use A = P(1 + r/n)^(nt) where A is the final amount, P is the principal, r is the annual rate, n is the compounding frequency, and t is the time in years. For APY, we annualize the effective rate based on the compounding frequency the bank uses.
